The 7 days Uganda safari is incredibly a budget-friendly package offering ultimate mix of wilderness experiences: chimpanzee trekking, mountain gorilla trekking, game drive, and cultural encounters. The main destinations to be visited on this one-week expedition include Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth NP, and Bwindi.

The safari itinerary

Day 1: Hotel pick up & head off to Kibale

Start the long day drive to Kibale from Kampala via Mityana-Mubende to Fort Portal city. Kibale NP sits in Kabarole District, protecting 1500 chimpanzees plus additional 12 other primates.

Day 2: Full day exploring Kibale on chimpanzee trekking and nature walk in Bigodi

Briefing about chimpanzee trekking rules begins early in the morning at Kanyanchu visitor center. The park guides will be available and each will lead a group consisting of 6 visitors. The Kibale chimpanzee trek takes 2-4 hours and it includes one hour of face-to-face encounter. Luckily, more other primates won’t be missed such as olive baboons, l’hoest monkeys, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys.  The afternoon session involves exploring Bigodi Wetland on a nature walk and you should expect to come across more primates and birds.

Day 3: Kibale- Queen Elizabeth safari park

After breakfast, begin driving to Queen Elizabeth N. Park, a wildlife destination to find big game, including the tree climbing lions. This savanna park is the 2nd biggest park in Uganda and holds a huge concentration of animal species.

Day 4: Game drive & boat cruise excursion |Kasenyi plains & Kazinga channel

Begin a game drive early in the morning as you catch up early risers along Kasenyi plains. Drive for 2-3 hours through the park while viewing interesting animal species including lions, bush elephants, leopards, cape buffaloes, antelopes and bird species.

Head off for the afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga channel. The 2-3 hours recreational experience allows you to see hippos, crocodiles and birds on the banks of Kazinga channel.

Day 5: Bwindi for mountain gorilla vacation

After breakfast, today is mainly for you connect to Bwindi and you will drive through Ishasha. The beauty about Ishasha sector is its unique tree climbing lions which you will be spotting and proceed to Bwindi NP.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking

A special morning to search for mountain gorillas begins after briefing and allocation of gorilla groups. You will spend at least 2-6 hours in the natural forest and it includes exploring how these primates and taking pictures. Walk back to the park offices (Rushaga, Ruhija, Buhoma and Nkuringo) to be given a certificate and connect to the lodge for relaxation. Join others on a cultural or community walk to Batwa pygmies’ community.

Day 7: Get back to Kampala via Mbarara

Check out and you will meet the driver guide for transfer back to Kampala city but this comes with stopover at Mbarara and Equator. Once you have reached Kampala, it brings to an end the 7 day tour.
